While many shops are limited to standard roll grooving, we specialize in high-precision cut grooving for complex piping geometries and heavy-wall applications.

Specialized Grooving for Pipe Bends

We offer a rare capability to provide precision cut grooves on large-radius pipe bends, ensuring seamless mechanical joining for entire system sections (size range NPS 2” – 48”)

3D Bends:

Standard long-radius bends (radius = 3x pipe diameter).

5D Bends & Greater

Specialized gentle-radius bends for high-velocity or abrasive flow systems.

Custom Radii

We can accommodate non-standard bend configurations to fit your specific project layout.

Heavy-Wall & Straight Pipe Capabilities

Our machining equipment is designed to handle the increased rigidity and thickness of industrial-grade piping that standard roll groovers cannot process (size range NPS 2” – 48”).

Schedule 40: Standard wall grooving for high-performance mechanical joints.
Schedule 80 & Greater: Mandatory cut grooving for heavy-wall pipes to prevent stress fractures and ensure deep, reliable coupling engagement.
Straight Lengths: Custom grooving for any length of straight pipe to provide a “union at every joint.”

Why Choose Cut Grooving?

While roll grooving is common for thin-wall pipe and a service we offer, cut grooving is the superior choice for critical infrastructure:

Smooth Internal Bore: Unlike roll grooving, which creates an internal ridge (dimple), cut grooving maintains a perfectly smooth interior. This is essential for abrasive slurry or high-velocity systems where internal turbulence must be minimized.
Lined & Coated Pipe: Cut grooving is the only safe method for pipes with internal cement, plastic, or rubber linings, as it removes material without the crushing force that can shatter or detach internal coatings
Superior Movement: Cut-grooved joints can provide up to twice the built-in linear movement (expansion and contraction) compared to roll-grooved ends.
Zero “Flaring”: Machining the groove eliminates the “mushrooming” or flaring at pipe ends often seen in roll grooving, ensuring a perfect fit for every Victaulic coupling.
